(Why are we here? Pt. III)
with L.W. Outlaw PhD

As stated in my previous article, “ we are here because God wanted us here and we are part of His glorious creation”. Let me add, we are a very special part of that creation, as well as part of His overall plan for man and God’s galactic plan for this constantly expanding universe!!
I am certain that some of you will challenge my choice of words used here but I make NO apology! Our God is a big God, a great God and His abilities are immeasurable. God knows what He is doing.
As we continue to ponder the never ending question as to “WHY are we here?” we must remember that just as God never finishes creating the universe ( which science has proven) He is also never finished with us! That is why the apostle Paul states in Romans 5:8: “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners (i.e. choosing to sin), Christ died for us. Jesus Christ gave His life to pay the penalty for the sins of the world. When that penalty was fully paid, God raised Jesus from the dead. Salvation was provided for all who believe.”
Even, the great King David of Israel was skeptical of his existence, many of his Psalms indicate how curious he was about his existence such as Psalm 8 in which David states, ’’ When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
4 what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?
5 You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor.
6 You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet:
David asked the question of “Why are we here?” and attempts to answer at the same time.
This is true of many of David’s Psalms as well as Solomon’s writings.
David, Solomon and many of the Old Testament saints pondered their existence but like David in Psalm 8 they came to the realization that God is mindful of our existence. As such, He knows us better than anyone and knows our full potential! The result is God’s calling of certain individuals to do specific things; the reason there has only been one Billy Graham; the reason only certain persons are called to Preach, teach or be missionaries.
God has a specific job for each of us to do and God will let us know as His needs for His plan determine.
May God bless those that receive the call.
